The fact is though, that real life adult people DO get upset about what other people do in their bedrooms, and will try to use the Law, abuse, violence and any other means at their disposal to make life more difficult and unpleasant for people who are not 'normal' in their fucked up little minds.

Mostly it's a mix of straightforward ignorance and bigotry mixed with a bit of ill thought through Sky Fairy fancying because apparently the book says something a long time back that allows you to ignore the overriding messages of peace and tolerance and do some good old fashioned Old Testament hating.

Sven

If you worked with a guy who shrieked all day long I'd agree with you. I find women who shriek and can't shut up annoying and men who do it just as annoying.

What I do find odd is why people get upset over gay pride. Personally it's not for me. I see no reason for me to be in parade but if that's what someone wants to do once a year then where's the harm?

Re: Are LGBT rights British values?
I must admit I find the overly camp mincers shrieking OMG a bit tiresome but that's because I think it's a bit of a put on affectation by attention seekers.
Did we ever decide whether lisping made you gay or whether gay people just lisp more as a matter of course?
That said blokes being really macho & hard coz they are SO heterosexual is equally tiresome

Exactly Balders though I don't get why mincing bothers people.

I can understands why a straight man might get offended if a gay guy hits on them more than once or if someone feels the need to introduce themselves as being gay every time they meet people but why people get upset over gay pride is beyond me.

Re: Are LGBT rights British values?
If the men didn't walk round mincing and dress like Julian Cleary no one would know what they get up to in their own bedroom and wouldn't give a kippers dick

It's just a normal human right not to give a fuck what two over age consenting adults get up really

Re: Are LGBT rights British values?
I wouldn't say LGBT rights are British values, more like they are basic human values.

People really don't care what two consenting adults do. The only ones who do care are angry people who seek to blame others for their misfortunes and don't take any personal responsibility for their actions.

Britain has always been a liberal, tolerant and multicultural society.

You've got to be a bit odd to care what consenting adults want to do behind closed doors.

This could have been an interesting thread, but someone had to ruin it with religious bullshit.

Re: Are LGBT rights British values?
Does it rely on 'faith' or some other nebulous concept?

Because that's not real evidence.

Evidence has to be observed and measured, or proved.

Having an old book written several hundred years after the events it describes is not evidence.

Yes there is.

Oh, I'm sorry, did I miss something out where there is real proper actual evidence to support religious belief?

Re: Are LGBT rights British values?
I've always wondered why the Religionists expect other normal and rational people to accept their particular book of choice as evidence, when it's quite clearly nothing of the sort.

I have nothing against people relying on fairy stories to explain the difficult bits of life, but then they want other people to modify their behaviour to suit them based on stuff written hundreds of years ago using Chinese whisper versions of folk tales.
